Havida from Brønnøysund and GroAqua from the Faroe Islands, two technology companies focused on feeding solutions and sustainable growth in aquaculture, are joining forces. The merged company will create stronger competition in the Norwegian blue technology market.
Havida develops and produces its own technological solutions for the aquaculture industry and has established a strong position in Northern and Central Norway.
“At GroAqua in the Faroe Islands, we have found strength, commitment, and determination in an exceptional group of quality-driven people who share our vision,” says Tomas Sund, CEO of Havida.
“Havida’s growth will continue. We have decided to expand both production and service operations in Brønnøysund, which is strategically located close to the production areas. We are determined to strengthen our position as a partner to the aquaculture industry on its journey toward sustainable growth. We also plan to expand into more regions along the Norwegian coastline.”
GroAqua was established in 1972 and has since been an important contributor to the significant growth of aquaculture in the Faroe Islands. In recent years, the company has expanded internationally and is now established in the Faroe Islands, Scotland, Denmark, and Poland. The company is known for delivering some of the world’s largest feeding barges to the most exposed farming locations in the world.
“We are pleased to welcome the talented employees of Havida to the team,” says Suni Justinussen, CEO of GroAqua.
“With our highly qualified employees in Norway, Scotland, Poland, Denmark, and the Faroe Islands, we aim to provide the best possible service to customers in Norway and other markets. The result of this merger is the creation of a true challenger in the market, with deep roots and strong commitment to the local communities and markets in which we operate.”
The companies have complementary product portfolios and together create a strong foundation for innovation in the industry. The merged entity will offer everything from simple products to large-scale projects, including installation and service delivered close to the customer.
The management of Havida will become owners in the merged company together with the rest of the management team at GroAqua and the industrial holding company P/F Tjaldur.
